The best time of the year to come to the beach starts today! The weather has cooled off just a little and the water temperature in the Gulf is about 81 degrees. Most of the crowds are gone and summer is still in full swing. The hotel rates begin to come down and the few locals that live in Destin actually come out and enjoy the town. Mitchell's Fish Market- Newer Destin Restaurant

Last night we had another great meal at Mitchell's Fish Market in Sandestin and I realized I have not mentioned this great seafood restaurant on our Destin blog. Mitchell's Fish Market is located on the east of end of Destin often referred to as Sandestin in the Grand Boulevard shopping center. The food and service are always top notch and the prices are pretty reasonable for fresh seafood. Mitchell's brings in fresh seafood from around the country and their Tuna may be the best in town. They also have a great bar and feature happy hour specials. The nearest hotel is the Sandestin Hilton. Be sure to visit http://www.doitindestin.com/Places_to_eat_in_Destin.html for more Destin Restaurants.

Summer Day at the Gulfarium

Yesterday we loaded up the office, picked up the families, and hit the Gulfarium on Okaloosa Island. The Gulfarium is located only about 10 minutes from Destin and is worth the drive. Plan to spend at least two hours exploring this great attraction to catch all the shows. The kid's loved petting the stingrays and the adults seemed to enjoy the dolphin show the best. The Gulfarium also offers a Sea lion show as well as a multi species show. In between shows there are plenty of attractions and displays to explore. For more information visit http://www.gulfarium.com/. If you plan to visit the Gulfarium on your next beach vacation the Four Points by Sheraton Destin-Fort Walton Beach is located directly next door and is an easy walk.
