Dinner and a Show! Osaka

We had some guest in town tonight and decided to stop by Osaka Japanese Steak House. This is one our favorite places to entertain. We walked in right at Dinner time with no wait tonight. Generally we expect to wait at least 15 minutes so they can prepare the Hibachi table. We did the "Ninja Dinner" and it was perfect at usual. The Fillet Mignon is one of the best in town. The great table side show accents the meal nicely. The sushi is excellent as well. If you are in the mood for some Hibachi we can not recommend a better place. Sandestin to Host ArtsQuest Fine Art Show!

It's that time of the year! Sandestin is gearing up once again to host the ArtsQuest festival. Every year over 100 artist and many more art lovers travel from around the globe to attend this the show at Sandestin's Baytowne Warf. Destin Chik-fil-a

Today we decided to head to Chik-fil-a for lunch. I rarely comment on fast food but I wanted to inform travelers on the best fast food chain in Destin. Our office is just up the street from their location and we tend to eat there at least twice a month. Every time our expectations are exceeded. The restaurant is always spotless. No detail is missed. Even the ketchup is stacked perfectly. The employees are always nice, well groomed, and smiling. The service is shockingly amazing. This week is Louisiana's spring break and the restaurant was packed. We walked up and placed our order after a very brief wait. Before the cashier could hand me my drink our food was ready. I know this is the reason they call if fast food but it is rare that you get such great service from a chain. Chik-fil-a is located in Downtown Destin directly across the street from Holiday Inn Destin On The Beach. For other great places to eat in Destin take a look at Do It In Destin.

Comedy Night at Howl at the Moon

Last night we had a chance to visit Howl at the Moon just outside of Destin. Every Sunday night they have a live Comedy show with 2 stand ups. If you get there by 8 you get in with no cover. They start off with their famous dueling piano show for the 1st hour. At 9 the opening comic takes stage. The comics travel around the country doing shows and for the most part are surprising good. Around 9:30 the main act comes on stage. The comic last night was hilarious. The entire room was laughing so hard they were gasping for air. Overall the show was great. The bar is right on the beach if you have a chance to catch them on a Sunday we would recommend this show. The average age ground was between 20-50. So pretty much everyone is welcome. Howl at the Moon is located on Okaloosa Island and the best hotel to book out there is Four Points by Sheraton Destin-Fort Walton Beach. Destin Pizza!

Looking for a quick meal while in Destin on vacation? Pizza is the easy meal that can feed the whole family without breaking the bank. Once you decide on Pizza it may be hard to find the perfect pizza place. We have decided to highlight a few of the great Pizza places in Destin. Since Destin is spread out a bit we have chosen several places in different areas.

The 1st choice we highlight is Jordano's. This family owned Pizza spot is by far the best pizza in Destin. They are located on the east side of Destin in the Miramar Beach area. They do not have a site so we can not provide a link. If you want to give them a try pick up the phone and call them at 850 654-8080.

For downtown Destin we recommend Mellow Mushroom. This is a fun chain that has a kind of wacky flair to it. I do not believe they deliver but it is a great place to stop in for a great pizza. They also have a large selection of beer for the adults.

For the west end of Destin near the harbour we recommend LandShark's Pizza. This is the one of the three we have not been to. We are recommending this location based off rave reviews from friends.

Destin Night Life- Club Overboard

We had some guest come in town this week and they really wanted to see the Destin Nightlife. We started the night with a few drinks and appetizers from Bone Fish. Bone Fish offers a chance for a mature sophisticated crowd to get out and have a good time. After a few hours of drinking and some great food we decide to give Club Overboard a chance in Downtown Destin. If you are looking for cheap drinks and a chance to dance this may be the place for you. The average age group in this bar seemed to be 18-30. They have 3 separate rooms with a DJ in 2 of them and a live band playing rock music outside. Club Overboard also offers a "Power Hour". Between 11:30-12:30 all well drinks and draft beers are only $1. Both places we went to were a very different crowd but we felt welcome at both. Rainy Day In Destin

Sometimes it happens. It does rain down in Destin. Today was one of the few wet days. When you plan a trip to the beach bad weather is not something you want to deal with. When we get stuck with a rainy day we try and come up with activities that will help us make the most of it. Today we took a trip to the Air Force Armament Museum on Eglin AFB. This museum is just a quick 25 minute car ride from Destin. You do not have to be military to visit the museum. The admission is based solely of donations. The museum features tons of planes on the exterior as well as few inside. There is also a large collection of weapons, bombs, and other interesting items. We head to the Armament Museum at least once a year. It is informative for adults and a lot of fun for children. Be sure to try the astronaut ice cream in the gift shop. Beach Weather is Here!

Today was a great day in Destin. The temperature was just shy above 80 degrees and there was not one cloud in the sky. The water was cold but refreshing and the sand was smooth and offered a great place to lay back and relax. If you are not in Destin at the moment now is the time to start planning your next vacation. Spring Fling Car and Truck Show

It is that time of year again! Custom cars from around the country flock to Panama City Beach for the annual Spring Fling Car and Truck show. We plan to attend and enter our vehicle as always. The show is geared towards a younger crowd but is always fun for car enthusiasts of all ages. If you are down in Destin this is an event you may want to check out. Last year there was a large turn out and even though a few of us had a little too much sun, it was well worth the 30 minute drive from Destin. The show runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Tickets are $10 a day or $15 for the weekend. If you have little ones you may want to go on Saturday over Sunday because Sunday features the Bikini Contest. Wing Stop in Destin!

We ended up missing out on the concert series at Baytowne this week. We did however try out the new Wing Stop Restaurant in Destin. Generally we try and highlight non-chain restaurants but since it is new to the area and a smaller chain so we thought we would share our experience. We started our wing search online. Their site was pretty easy to use and it allowed us to place our order without having to call. I did call to make sure it went through and they had already started cooking our food. I asked them generally how long they need to know in advance and they let us know they only need 15 minutes to get it ready. We tried their family special which included 4 flavors, 50 wings, and 2 sides for only $39.99. We ordered carry out and took it back to our office. All 4 flavors of the wings are pretty good. The sides are about average. We ordered the fries and the bourbon baked beans. The taste of bourbon was very noticeable and the kids did not enjoy them at all. Overall we did enjoy the food. Spring Break is here!

Today is officially the first week of Spring Break. Destin will have a influx of vacationers the next few weeks. Unlike our neighbors in Panama City, Destin is a family oriented Spring Break area. So if you are making last minute plans or if you are packing to head on down, do not fear the wild and crazy parties you see on TV.

This week we are planning to check out the free Concert Series in the village of Baytowne Wharf. Hopefully next week we will have some good photos to share.
